Would you like to sing while speaking a new language? Then Mandarin is the language for you. Mandarin is like reading sheet music because it’s a tonal language. About two months into our adventures in China, Kings English for Kids hired two teacher assistants, Sophia and Cathy, from my school to tutor Denny and I on learning Mandarin. We are blessed with one and a half hours of tutoring Monday through Friday in our apartment.
Denny and I have joked that we sound like cave people, but that is fine by us as long as we can communicate with Chinese people. To learn a new language it takes lots of practice with no fear. With just a few tutoring sessions under my belt I have realized I’m illiterate in China and the pain that it took to learn how to read in English starts all over again.I am a toddler in speaking and a child in reading pinyin (Anglicized Mandarin).

Our new textbooks. Notice the tea on the left side of the picture? Chinese drink a lot of fresh tea. Yes, tea in the form of leaves not pre-made bags.
Any suggestions on learning a new language or Mandarin?
