If you are here thank you for reading 10,000 Smiles. For the last few days aprilmaura.com was invaded with a virus. I appreciate your patience. Now let’s be reminded why we should smile.
I am not entirely spoiling the ending of the book Beautiful by Katie Piper, but I thought this conclusion of what she learned was valuable. [If you would like to read more inspiring quotes from Katie Piper look at these post here , here and here.]
Is There Kindness Left?
“Through it all, I’d learned that kindness and love are the most wonderful things of all, and from that moment on I knew my life was going to be beautiful, in every single way.”
(p. 308).
I was having a rather terrible day the other day and was wondering if there was any redemption in humanity. I was seeing selfishness left and right, so my patience was very thin. While I was engulfed in a cloud of sadness at a coffee shop with Denny, the owner whom Denny befriended walked over to the counter and brought me a hot cup of apple tea on the house. This man’s act of kindness was wonderful. It spiritually made me smile and gave me hope for humanity. There is still love in this murkiness of humanity. There is hope.
(Note there were so many beautiful people in Singapore; I have so many favorites! )
