My husband, Denny and I have been married for 3 years now. The time flew by quickly. I wanted to share with you why this anniversary was one of my best days in my life and how you too can celebrate an incredible anniversary.
For those of you who aren’t readers but cliff note skimmers the below 5 notes will give you the meat of the message.
1) Have a professional take your couple pictures. You will feel like a celebrity. It’s also a great way to capture the season your spouse and you are in.
2) Leave your home and get-away. A new environment will do you both some good and allow you to be less distracted and more focused on your other half. Rent a home or stay the night in a nice hotel.
3) Relax. Spend sometime lying by the pool or jacuzzi. Afterwards get a couples massage followed up with room service and a movie.
4) Get creative. Find a project you can do together.
5) Explore and connect spiritually. Take an adventure by taking in the sites together. If you have faith. Spend sometime together with God and reflect on your marriage.

An Itinerary for a Mr. & Mrs.
Our Paparazzi
Through networking Denny and I got some good anniversary pictures. We haven’t had any done since our wedding day. The Chinese are so sweet. We got chauffeured to our photography location and not only had one photographer but nine. We didn’t know this, but we were the models for the local Qingdao Photography club. It was crazy fun!
Here are some pictures I have gotten back. There are more to come!
My Walk of Fame
I love that the season Denny and I are in right now allows for us to do Crossfit together, a type of workout. On Monday after Crossfit I was planning on making Denny dinner. Little did I know he had a surprise too.
Our Crossfit session is over during Chinese rush hour. Rush hour in Qingdao, China is similar to New York City with the lack of personal space when riding a bus. Denny and I were at a toss up about riding a cab or walking. Traffic decided for us and we walked. I thought we were walking to our apartment which is about 2 miles from our gym. I knew we weren’t when we passed the road that led to our apartment. Shortly after passing it, our Polish Crossfit instructor rode by on his bike. That’s when I thought the surprise was us going to have dinner with our instructor, but nope, we kept on walking. We got to a mall I recognized and that’s when I realized we were going to the Le Meridian (in other words, a really nice hotel).
Pampering for Stars
Tuesday we just enjoyed the hotel’s amenities, the pool and the crazy cloud nine mattress.
Denny surprised me with a project that we could do together.
The goal of the puzzles was to make a picture or collages of pictures that represent our relationship. A gift of thoughtfulness for the other. I married an awesome creative thoughtful husband.
Before (cheating on my no wheat diet) pizza and a movie we requested two Chinese massage women to our room. For 1 1/2 hour massage in our hotel (which can also be in your apartment) it only cost us $27 each. Wowzers, I love this part of China.
My Priceless Vacation
Wednesday, the actual day of our anniversary was the best. I got to explore and get lost in a foreign city with my husband. I loved it. Denny brought up a good point. One of my favorite things to do in Asian countries is to go to a location and not really know where I am at. I have a relative idea but there is also a feeling of being completely lost and sensing my environment for the first time like a child. It’s an incredible feeling every traveler should experience. Do you like getting lost while traveling? and if so, why?
Besides exploring the older German history of Qingdao, we sat on some coral rocks on the ocean and spent time with God. After our quiet time, I had a set of questions for us to discuss of our relationship. The time for us was a nurturing, and peaceful for our souls.
Here is to the best anniversary for Denny and I, and more to come.
