They stared deeply into each other’s eyes, nuzzled, hugged and kissed. No one else was in those moments following their wedding ceremony, they were in the world of love together. The picture below was taken when they exited the ceremony. I love how this picture is a candid and expresses the deep love they have for one another. One might ask how this lovely couple got to those moments. It all started with them meeting at a Christian’s singles group from church. They had sat next to each other at one of the events. Courtney had given him hot chocolate. (Men, the next time a women hands you hot chocolate she is saying you are marrying her.) Chris remembers from their first encounter thinking Courtney had pretty eyes and interesting things to say. Chris commented that talking with Courtney was an interesting sense of wonder and that being with her reminded him of flowers blossoming in the spring. For their first date they went out for coffee and talked for about four hours. That date grew to more talking for 11 months and then engagement for four months. When I asked Chris how he knew Courtney was his bride; he had poetic romantic words pour out. Chris said the list was long on reasons he loved her. Chris loves Courtney’s faithfulness and love for the church. Courtney isn’t afraid of the daily faithful tasks and she enjoys them. After the ceremony when I was taking Courtney’s portrait I saw Chris admiring his bride from the sidelines.A friend of theirs at the wedding commented that, “Chris changed Courtney’s world.” Courtney knew Chris was the man God planned to be her husband at Huntington Garden one Sunday afternoon while they were laying under a tree on the grass. She remembered that she felt complete peace and comfort in that moment and knew Chris was it! Chris made an elaborate proposal. He prepared a casual picnic at the elegant Getty Art Museum. When Chris had proposed he told Courtney the many reasons why he fell in love with her. While Chris shared his heart Courtney said her body had shook with excitement. Following Chris’s proposal they celebrated with a steak dinner at a restaurant. During the speeches the maid-of-honor, sister to the bride, Paige, said that Courtney is a hopeless romantic, a leader, had a servants heart and saw the beauty in the everyday.Paige ended on this note, “Being in love looks good on Courtney.” I couldn’t agree more. Anyone that is around them can sense the love they have for one another. Here are some highlights from their wedding day.
