Love at first sight exist. They met through mutual friends the first day Melynn attended Redemption Gateway. He was a worship drummer coming out of the bathroom when sparks flew when they locked eyes. Mike commented he was glad he didn’t know he was meeting her that day or he would have been real nervous. God perfectly designed all their details for meeting. Their love grew over a year when Mike knew she was his wife-to-be.
Their Notebook Proposal
Mike told Melynn they were going to Red Mountain for a bonfire with friends. It happened to be raining and Mike reasoned that the bonfire area had a cover.
He carefully decorated a path to the water’s edge with red and yellow roses with baby’s breath and candles. God’s creation of dead trees added to the romantic hipster proposal. At the end of the path awaited a canoe that overlooked the majestic beauty of Red Mountain. It was lighting raining and the boat was unstable. Mike knew the moment was closing in so he asked Melynn to take out her gum. In that moment a flash came from the brushes that lined the water and Melynn jumped saying, “What?” Mike then senrinaded her with his guitar, did a proclamation of his love towards her and then asked her to marry him. It was a perfect Notebook proposal. 8 months later they were on their wedding day.
The groomsmen were quite the comical bunch.
It was an honor witnessing the moments between Melynn and her mom leading up to the first look.
As gifts Melynn made her bridesmaid necklaces.
A family member made this necklace and bracelet for Melynn’s wedding gift.
Melynn decided to wear her mother’s wedding dress. The 25 year old dress was perfect for this modern hipster wedding.
First Looks are my favorite part of the wedding day.
Redemption Gilbert has so many options for different looking venues. This part of the campus creates a modern looking wedding.
The blue lighting during the ceremony made the wedding look like it was held in a fancy museum during the evening.
In the beginning of the ceremony the pastor regaled the guest on Mike and Melynn’s love story and how God was the center of their relationship.
For cake they had a tier of cupcakes for the bridal party and sheets of cake for the guest.
Chick-Fil-A catered this wedding. The meal included: Chick-Fil-A sandwiches, coleslaw, beans and a fruit salad.
I heard the most creative maid of honor (sister of the bride) speech; she gave the groom a gift basket of wisdom or as she said, “a survival kit of essential everyday items”.
Maid-of-Honor Best Speech Gift: Survival Kit for the Groom
1) Dark Chocolate
2) Emergency Coffee
3) Chapstick
4) Dog Treats/balls
5) First aid kit
6) Snacks
Following each item the maid-of-honor had a witty comment that tailor her sister. For example, “Dog treats and balls because Mike…is your child now.”
Redemption Gilbert’s reception looked like something from Cinderella’s ball. This is Mike and Melynn sharing their first dance as husband and wife.
Their centerpieces for this wedding was 4×6 engagement pictures and paper flowers. These pictures will be perfect for decorating their newlywed home.
Melynn switched into a simple short white dress for the grand exit and they were wished blessings with bubbles.
