I was incredibly excited when Build a Wedding decided to partner with me on a wedding collaborative shoot in St. Louis, Missouri. We wanted to design an urban summer and fall wedding to inspire our brides. I am honored I had the opportunity to work with an incredible group of talented individuals and blessed to have made friends in the process.
Many thanks to Wedding Chicks for featuring this Urban Whimsy wedding inspirational shoot…my creative team and I appreciate your support.
“It doesn’t get better than a late summer wedding in the city – there’s a subtle elegance to the city along with a vibe that reverberates self-expression and chill. ….We were absolutely inspired by the exposed brick, colorful graffiti, and the variety of cool and warm colors throughout the vintage furniture, and of course the summer must-haves… fresh fruit and Kool-Aid! The concept of this shoot was to eliminate all stuffiness and to incorporate the essence of soaking up the last days of summer. “
“The bride’s bouquet had a velvety bunch of ivory ranunculus, blush peonies, dark cranberry carnations, and gray berries with a touch of dusty miller.”
This beautiful sleeveless lace wedding gown from Allure complimented this urban look with exposed bricks and concrete floors.
“The groom’s boutonniere was a custom Scarlet Lapel Windflower with a British Tan Leather Button handcrafted by A Brooched Square.”
The grooms slim cut suit from the Banana Republic looking dashing against the buildings in the Lafayette Square neighborhood.
The Lafayette Square has a lot of gorgeous historic buildings to take wedding photos.
SqWires Annex in downtown St. Louis offers the perfect urban wedding environment! Build a Wedding created a whimsical ceremonial backdrop. I loved every detail, from the door frames, vintage suitcases to the teal window shutters. I love seeing the items brides can find when they thrift shop, Etsy or Ebay.
Cameron and Brittany knew how to celebrate marriage!
“The super fun Kool-Aid Bar took us back to our childhood. Glass mason jars, black and white striped paper straws, and cuts of watermelon slid onto the glass provided inspiration for the additions. Plump blackberries, juicy orange slices, and frozen red grapes sealed the deal right after we included a handful of pretty little sugar cubes into the vintage topaz colored dishes. “
The watermelon was the perfect summer touch. Cheers to childhood likes and romance!
“We believe every wedding should be decked out with a little DIY, so we added the incredible ‘All We Need Is Love’ Graffiti Wall. The words were painted in cranberry on unbleached canvass for a cool natural effect. For added depth, an old gear ladder was used and wildflowers were poked between the rungs. Sitting right in front was the rich electric blue studded wingback chair. On the other side of the graffiti wall, we stacked old suitcases in order to sit the beautiful gray and black vintage typewriter. Or course flowers were added to bring the pops of mustard yellow, plum, and cranberry out in the overall design. “
When I saw the reception table I was floored with excitement with lots of “ahhs”.
“Everything from the sprigs of bright red berries to the electric blue apothecary bottles were naturally incorporated in the shoot. The distressed wood of the farmhouse table provided an excellent canvass for this late summer tablescape. The geometric design and vibrant plates pulled in all of the color hues stunningly. The bright red Jonathan apples coupled well with the pops of cranberry and antiqued gold candlesticks. We added a touch of eclecticism to the head table by adding a different chair at each place setting. For the lovely couple, we incorporated two large mustard chairs at their setting. For a final touch of sweetness, mini lemon pies were added to each plate and dressed with bright red and dark purple berry sprigs.”
The red apples made me think I was photographing Snow White’s wedding.
The ring bearer looked so adorable displaying the lemon pies.
A newer wedding dessert concept is to offer guests an assortment of deserts.
“The dessert table was stacked with a yummy assortment from everything to homemade chocolate chip cookies to sweet potato pie. Vintage pie plates and cake stands were used to dollop in the eclecticism once more. Old books were stacked and rich florals provided the “Wow!” effect. “
The ring bearer couldn’t wait to sneak a chocolate chip cookie; I could understand the power of those cookies. Gluten-free chocolate chip cookies are my favorite!!!!
Brittany and her creative team from Build a Wedding are a joy to work with. Not only do they know how to design a fantastic wedding but they also know how to have fun and bring excitement to the day. I would completely trust Build a Wedding to design my wedding.
