Here is a bold but interesting statement. 10 years of marriage could probably be a bigger celebration than any birthday of any kind.
10 years of marriage is a big deal, and shouldn’t be taken lightly. Yes, birthdays are fun and awesome, but wedding anniversary’s, wow…. are they something else!
1o years of deciding to say “yes” to the other every day
10 years of deciding to love the other every day
10 years of deciding to forgive and receive forgiveness
10 years of communication between male and female
10 years of getting to know the other and fall in love with them each day.
There is a lot that happens in 10 years that sets a foundation up for another 10, 20, 30, and more years of marriage. A lot of hardships and a lot of joys. There is no relationship as intimate and close as a marriage relationship.
For Jeremy and Samantha, they got married on July 15, 2006, making this month their 10 year anniversary. What better way to celebrate than to renew their vows at the Danforth Chapel at ASU and invest in not only making memories of that day, but capturing them on film. Here is a brief story telling of how Jeremy re-proposed to Samantha to renew their vows :
Jeremy re-proposed to Samantha while they were on a gorgeous Alaskan cruise for his mom’s 60th birthday, celebrating it with the entire family. Before the cruise, he picked out a ring that would compliment her existing bands seamlessly and then carefully packed it away for the week long trip. On the last formal night of the cruise, the family was all together sitting at dinner. The family was all together for the last formal night on the boat. While they were all in their seats, Jeremy turned to her and completely surprised her with a proposal to renew their vows. She said yes and there wasn’t a dry eye at the table.
Thank you Jeremy and Samantha for trusting me with your 10 year love story and for allowing me to be a part of your journey. It is exciting to see how your marriage is going to continue to grow in your forever years together!
We are going to go back to beginning, where it all began:
Samantha and Jeremy met in the sophomore year at Arizona State. They lived in the same dorm, Cholla. Originally they met while he and his roommate were doing a floor by floor “meet and greet” with the whole dorm. As a big group, they ended up all hanging out and went on a turnaround trip to Six Flags. On the way back from the trip, they decided to start dating. Since that date, they were together for 3 ½ years during school. The overall vision for their wedding was to have all the events tied into ASU since they first met there. The morning before their vow-renewal they took a walk down memory lane seeing the main sites of the Arizona State University Tempe campus. Here is some of their marriage wisdom after 10 years:
“Getting married at a young age required us to grow and mature together throughout the years, which provided a lot of learnings! Reflecting on the last 10 years, the biggest takeaways and keys to success are:
- It’s no longer all about you, it’s about us.
- A successful marriage and relationship comes with being a team and each other’s biggest cheerleader.
- If you focus on being better for each other every day, marriage gets easier and easier, not harder.
- Remembering not to take life too seriously and have fun together everyday!”
“A” Mountain – This is the “A” that Samantha painted while attending ASU and still stands many years later. The two shared many of their experiences while attending school together at the W.P. Carey School of Business.
A renewal of vows is like a daydream coming to life by re-living each part their love story.

Wisdom for other couples on having a healthy marriage from the Jeremy and Samantha:
“A quote that one of our good friends wrote on our engagement picture at our wedding reception, “in all you do, do it for each other.” It’s the cornerstone for how we’ve built our life together. At every wedding we have gone to since we include it as words of wisdom to the new couple.”
