Let’s chat about how to make books come to life with your little leader!
1)Dress up and retell the story or put on a show with puppets, peg dolls or play-dough.
2)Create something from the story as a craft or dish/bake good.
3)Extend the book by creating a learning activity incorporating objects and dress up from the book.
Today my learners dove into Lola’s story and learned self-love among some other valuable lessons while having fun reading!
This story promoted:
-Authenticity
-Self-esteem
-Friendship
-Confidence
To extend the lesson the learners played “Collect the Hatched Sounds” by selecting the letter sound they hear of an egg, carrying them on their head (like Lola in the story) and safely laying them in a basket. This game was a true winner & the learners were really engaged because of their connection to Lola from our prior activities!
I am honored to have partnered with Little Bookish Wardrobe and to have witnessed my learners experience the characters come to life! I really appreciate the value this subscription brings to a story, there is literally hours worth of fun and learning in each box.
So tell me…what is one strategy you will try today with your child to bring a book alive?
