Book Review of Little Bee

When I starting this book I liked how it was different and raw but as I progressed into the story my heart ached to the point I wanted to stop reading it.

Little Bee does a great job of shedding light on the many areas of depressing topics in this world to the point your soul will feel sick, it actually made my body physically feel ill. I don’t want to spoil the book, but I will warn you. If you like to read about the deepest evil doings in our world than this is the book for you. It was really graphic when it talked about these topics: death, sex, suicidal thoughts and abuse. Chris Cleave did an outstanding job with the character development, dialects, culture and points of views. I think this book had a powerful message but could have been told with less graphics. I personally don’t want to read in detail about someone being raped or having an affair. I was shocked. I would highly recommend Christian women to not read this book. I was reminded that it’s okay that I can’t handled reading these type of books. Yes, there is a lot of terrible things going on in the world and I know about it, but it doesn’t mean I need to feed my mind with it. What you put in your mind effects your heart. A quarter through the book I just started to skim over the gory details. I had known of some people who had read this book prior to me and they didn’t warn me. I want you to fully understand what kind of story you would be heading into.
