Growing up I ate baby carrots as a snack. When I attend a party there are baby carrots for dipping. We have been told that baby carrots are healthy. Are they? Some people are saying that baby carrots are causing cancer. What’s the truth?
Are Baby Carrots Killing You?
I haven’t thought twice about baby carrots or the world of chlorinating our veggies until this week when I saw an article on why non-organic baby carrots are harmful for our health. I did some more research on the topic. Researchers and the FDA are saying that the baby carrots soaked in chlorine are okay and that the other people saying otherwise are making a hoax. Many articles discuss the shaping, coloring and tasting of baby carrots to be unnatural, but that’s not my concern. The fact is that non-organic baby carrots are dipped in an unhealthy amount of chlorine (more than what’s in your tap water). Carrot suppliers use this chlorine to disinfect them. Yes, this is FDA approved but overtime having this “low” amount of chlorine adds to our overall toxicity level causing cancer and other health complications. Is this chemical’s “small” amount causing damage?
A Chart on What to Buy for Health Cautious People
Below I included a chart discussing the dirty and clean produce concerning pesticides. I couldn’t find one on just chlorine.
What You Can Do
With all of these facts and opinions it’s YOU who has to come to your own decision. If the chlorine treatment to your veggies is a concern for you here are some lifestyle choices that you could take:
-If you buy baby carrots buy organic.
-Grow your own carrots.
-Make your own baby carrots from larger carrots.

Whatever you decide just keep in mind that eating baby carrots are a healthier choice than a processed snack like chips.
Are there other produce items that you are aware of that are cleaned with chlorine that we should be cautious of?
