Ideas from my worn backpack

Today I was hired as a nanny for four boys and one cute baby girl. I am excited and God’s hands were in getting me this job.

Chapter 1:The TEST

With a bus full of kids we were sitting in an army green mini van in the Wal- Mart parking lot while my boss needed to go inside to visit the bank. I was fine staying with the children. Before my boss went in she was on the phone. With observation, I realized the boys needed to be distracted while she was on the phone to keep the noise level at a controllable noise to say the least.

Chapter 2: My worn Backpack

In college my professors always said we each carry a backpack of knowledge. As educators, or nannies in this case, or even moms, we need tools and tricks in our backpack to pull out at any moment.

Do you remember Mary Poppins and how she had that bag of nifty things? That’s the idea, but it also could be knowledgeable games, fun activities or management techniques. The backpack is full of many things depending in what role you are in now. What type of backpack do you have? What’s inside of it? ( indirectly that’s what your boss will be looking for and asking)

Chapter 3: My tool in my backpack

As a child my parents would play the 20 questions game on the road. However, the 20 questions usually were infinite unless you were playing with my grandma. This game session with children under the age of 10 topped 20 questions. They were hilarious when choosing their questions. You would think to ask does the animal live on water? Land? Air? And the kids would ask questions like: ” is it a tiger?” very specific questions. The children needed a little guidance.

Chapter 4: My lesson

From this first distracting experience with these sets of kids, outside the classroom, I learned I might need to research some distracting mind games (with no material necessary) Do you have ideas?
