What services does the Musical Instrument Museum offer for couples?

When considering MIM for your special occasion, please know that our planning experts will make recommendations based on time of day and number of guests. We partner with several service vendors in the Valley that can provide first-class specialized services to bring your vision to life. Along with lighting and décor, our partners have experience with the museum space and can ensure every detail of your special day is carefully prepared.

When securing MIM for your ceremony, the facility rental includes many amenities:

Standard tables, chairs, and other furniture needs
Setup and takedown crews
Standard linens (white, ivory, or black)
Chinaware, silverware, and glassware (for up to 100 seated or 200 reception guests; additional rental fees will apply beyond these guest counts)
Standard security

Because everyone who works at MIM is a music enthusiast, we can help with all of your booking needs in this capacity. Whether you are looking for a cover band, string quartet or solo guitarist, we can recommend the best artists in the area and solidify the details on your behalf.

What spaces are available for the ceremony and reception?

During the day, wedding couples may enjoy North El Río, the Founders Room, and the Jill Dahlin Courtyard for their celebration or reception. The MIM Music Theater may also be used as a nontraditional ceremony space. When MIM closes to the public daily at 5:00 p.m., the entire museum may be considered for a ceremony and reception. Our planning experts will make space recommendations based on time of day and number of guests.

Is there an on-site coordinator?

The Events Team at MIM has professional ties with many exclusive wedding planners and vendors in the Valley and we are happy to make the introductions. Couples are also welcome to use their own planning coordinator.

What is included in the starting collection?

MIM’s exclusive evening wedding package at $140.00 per person includes ceremony and reception space, tray-passed hors d’oeuvres (three kinds), a three-course plated dinner, private viewing of two MIM galleries, and a champagne toast. Premium bar service is charged on consumption. Should you prefer to completely customize your experience, we can easily assemble an “a la carte” package and individualized estimate.

What’s Plan B if it rains?

When receiving reservations for outdoor spaces, the MIM Events Team always considers an indoor option as a bad-weather backup. Typically, events in the Main Courtyard are moved into South El Río with inclement weather, while the Founders Room or North El Río are used as backups for the Jill Dahlin Courtyard.

Where’s the parking?

Guests of MIM enjoy complimentary parking in a large 400-space lot on the west side of the building, making it a quick and easy walk to the museum entrance for your guests.

What is the capacity of the space?

With seven unique event spaces, MIM can accommodate a variety of groups ranging from an intimate gathering of 50 guests to a grand reception for 400 people. A full museum buyout is also an option for your reception, which includes use of all event spaces and access to all galleries. This scenario will allow for upwards of 1,000 people while providing your guests an exclusive global museum experience.

How much time will the couple and the vendor team have to set up and clean up?

The MIM Events Team will work with every wedding couple individually to ensure that there is ample time to prepare for a smooth event. Because each wedding day is special and unique, setup times will vary depending on needs and availability in the museum.
