A First Week Sneak Peek of a Chinese Grocery Store

Don’t grocery shop on a Sunday in China. This picture explains why, the lines are so long. Walmart in the USA doesn’t compare.

To me the grocery stores in China are like FREE museums that I get to tour or sometimes they are concerts I have to endure. It’s a museum because there are so many unfamiliar food items I have never seen before that intrigue me. The experience starts feeling like a concert  after so long of not being able to read and know what things are or where I can find something; that causes a huge headache. Overall, the shopping experience thus far is bittersweet.

The store reminded me of a huge Dollar General!

Below are some food items that caught my eye. Enjoy the FREE museum.

It looks like it’s dried shrimp; I’m not sure? Grocery shopping in China is sometimes a guessing game for me right now.

The meat departments in China lay their food in the open, no glass case or anything.

I hope no one is crabby while reading this post. Smile!

Pigs feet, they are quite common here.

I was told this fruit is very healthy but smells like stinky feet.
