Dino Eggs on Chinese Streets

It looks like a dinosaur egg!

Denny and I learned the other day that most of the street vendors in China do most of their selling during lunch time. We were in a hurry to work but peaked quickly on the street and saw these really cute eggs that look like dinosaur eggs. Do you know what kind of egg this is? The vendor put it on a skew and then seasoned it. Denny said it was delicious. (2 UN for one skew)

The two dishes below are when Denny and I found a gold mine restaurant just around the corner from our apartment AKA, cheap restaurant. Both of us ate for under $4 and were plenty full.  After Denny and I took our first bites we looked around and realized if this establishment were in the United States we wouldn’t be eating there. Our standards have changed.

This has been my favorite chinese dish yet! 8 un= less than $2.

Toe-du-su….shredded potato. 12UN- $2

Denny and I made our first meal in our kitchen today! Stir-fried meat and veggies (minus the seasoning). about 16 UN for two. (less than $3)

Our current kitchen has been a project for my husband, Mr. Clean. The kitchen when we arrived was covered in a cooking oil that I’m guessing is common in the Chinese cooking. It was nasty. The kitchen has come quite far with his determination.

Pork, green pepper, yellow onion, garlic and potato.
