Tempe Restaurant Review: Cornish Pasty

What was once a poor miner’s meal in Cornwell, England became a delicious date night meal in Tempe, Arizona at a hidden restaurant called the Cornish Pasty. It is located on 960 W University Dr., Tempe, AZ 85281.

Stepping up to the curb I shouted to my husband, “Are you sure this place is opened?” From the looks of the outside I saw windows dressed in black and no lights. At night it looked rather sketchy. Denny insisted it was open. I pulled the door and stepped into an overseas country, England. At first sight the entrance  fooled the mind into believing that it was a tiny narrow pup with a bar. On the contrary, the entrance winds to the left and opens up into a larger pub. There were normal and large family tables with reused church pews as the chairs. There was English and Irish music playing in the background to the beat of the English dishes flying out of the kitchen and into the direction of my nostrils. It was a nice escape and something different (I highly recommend this place if you’re not gluten-intolerant).

I partook in the traditional pasty: The Oggie. It was delicious.

After an amazing dinner, Denny and I had fun playing a (free) game of darts.

I am one blessed woman! Thank you God for an incredible husband that takes me out on dates!

The atmosphere was perfect for a date and a trick of the mind’s eye of country hopping.
