Cups of Generosity

The Chinese generosity is abounding. It was a bright autumn afternoon in Qingdao, China when my husband just had to peak his head in a bike shop. What was intended to be a few minutes of browsing turned into an hour with new acquaintances.

Tea anyone? This simple beverage of water and dried up leaves has some powerful agents of connecting people. The manager from the shop invited us in to drink tea with him and his buddies. This would rarely happen in America, and if it would, very seldom.

You know….some simple decorations for a store front-bird cages.

The walnut in the picture has hand-carved designs in it. One of the men used it like a medicine ball. He polished the walnut before I took a picture of it.

This tea dripped love onto Denny and my heart. We felt so loved.

When has tea connected you with strangers?  How would it look for you to initiate tea with new acquaintances?
