Community Over Competition
There was this young boy who was incredibly gifted at baseball. He would shout it from the roof tops and for all the other children on the school playground to hear. One day a young girl approach him and asked him a series of questions.
“Where did you get your baseball bat?”
“My father gave it to me,” he responded.
“Who taught you how to play baseball?”
“My father and coach.”
“Who brought you to your games and encouraged you?”
“My mom.”
“So your saying….the reason you are so talented at baseball is because of the people who supported you, like your dad, mom and coach, right?”
This story was shared from my Pastor Ricardo when he was sharing a sermon at Redemption Tempe one Sunday. It’s so true. It’s the people in our life, our community, that share their wisdom that add to the overall success of our passions and skills. It is because of my community I am the photographer I am today.
Pay It Forward
When I think about my development as a photographer I think of all the people who have impacted me. I am so thankful for their wisdom and advice. It’s the people who impact us that help shape us to who we are today. Who inspires you? Send them a little love and thank them today.
