Peter was in his fourth year of Navy medical school based in Virginia. It was during his free time one Summer when he wanted to participate in Taekwondo. One afternoon, Peter and his sister found a local Taekwondo studio and it was during their visit that Peter noticed a beautiful woman working in the gym. During that same summer break Peter again saw the same beautiful woman from the Taekwondo studio at his church. Peter initiated conversation with her. Peter showed interest in this woman, Amy, and she responded warmly. It was from these interactions that their love blossomed.
It was about two months after they had met that Peter asked if Amy would stay in America and not go back to South Korea. It was when Amy told her mom she was staying in the United States that Amy’s mom realized that Peter and Amy’s relationship had grown to become something serious. Amy’s mom then took the next jet to America to meet Peter’s family in Arizona.
Peter officially asked Amy to be his wife one evening out in the city of Portsmouth, VA at Gershwin’s. It was over dinner that Peter asked if Amy would marry him and she said yes. In honor of their promises to wed they completed the night dancing the Waltz to Moonriver.
On their wedding day, December 28, 2015, Peter and Amy promised to love one another for life at the Horizon Community Church (located in Peoria, Arizona) in front of God and their family. Their first day as husband and wife was full of unforgettable moments and South Korean family traditions.
