This is a past event but it’s news worthy. Phoenix, Arizona hosts a first and third Friday that is completely FREE. This is a big event where artist from all avenues in the Phoenix metropolitan gather. If you want to meet some interesting people or want to be at a place where most of a city’s artists gather this is the place to be. My husband and I went with a couple from church, and it was a good doing-life bonding experience. What kind of life bonding outings do you do with your acquaintances/neighbors/ people from church (people you want to know better) ?
Some interesting artists that stuck out to me:
1) a candle venue, she had two interesting scents ( black leather and butt naked, [I bet your wondering what the smell was, but it had a scent of coconut. All butts smell like that right?])
2) an author selling his new book ( He wrote it in several coffee shops. If you’re an author you don’t necessarily have to publish your books in the store, Amazon is a useful tool.) My husband is a book worm and bought the book. We will see if he will like it.
3) a young jeweler who was super stylish. She was so excited about her new jewelry head piece that she had a random customer put it on to show it off. I snapped a picture and it made her giddy. She commented that she hopes it becomes the newest fad like flower headbands.
4) ASU (Arizona State University) printmaking club. They had several pieces of work out to purchase. My favorite was in a yellow, orange and red hue of an African American boy under a spanning safari tree. Only $10, I should have bought it. Their booth was educational, they had the fancy printing press machine out displaying how the process works.
5) A print in a gallery with the devil doing a trick on a skateboard and a slogan saying something in the effect of, ” This is the best trick the Devil ever did”.
6) God’s natural beauty. Downtown is fanned with massive towering face-sized sunflowers. Photo ops galore. Warning little children might have neck issues from staring so high!
Below are some other photos documenting the festive evening.
