Chinese Fairy Tale: The Fairy that Lives on the Moon

Quite a many years ago in the Middle Kingdom, also known as China, there lived a fairy named Change’e who had a forbidden love for a mortal. She was banished to the moon forever to live there with a cute bunny. The End.

Our food reminded me of a half-moon and sun!

This short little story is one of many of how the Chinese explain the moon and why they refer to the moon as a female. I was told this story by a co-worker one evening strolling the streets of Qingdao, China.

Do you know another culture’s story that explains the moon?
