Redemption Gilbert Wedding: Jose + Krysta

They noticed each other at different times. The first occasion happened in a 7:10 Redemption Gilbert Young Adults’ retreat up in Williams, Arizona at Lost Canyon. It was a brief encounter. Students were getting ready for the speaker and Jose had overheard Krysta saying she was saving some seats for some friends. Jose decided to sit in her reserve seats anyhow. Krysta kindly let him know that she was reserving those seats. During this interaction Krysta was wondering, “Who was this guy with the red beanie?” So many thoughts clouded her mind, he was: cute, terrifying, tall and a guy with great posture. Jose moved to the front of the room because he didn’t want to be distracted from God’s word by a pretty woman.

After the retreat, Krysta added Jose on Facebook. Jose then messaged her, “How was your drive back?” From there, their conversations continued and led to Jose inviting Krysta on a night hike. When Jose asked her on the phone he said with a smile, “…by the way, it’s a date.” Before the hike they went to go see a movie, Transcendence with Johnny Depp at the dinner theater. Afterwards, the two ventured the lava formations at Papago Park under the midnight sky and that’s where Jose said to Krysta, “Be my girlfriend,” in May 2014.

On their second date they again went hiking. The two later got onto an elementary school after hours and danced in the moonlight, this was the moment Jose knew Krysta was the woman he wanted to call his wife. On their third date, Jose and Krysta hiked the Windcaves Trail. On their adventure the two got lost until 3am. Needless to say, the two love to take adventures together.

The Proposal

About a year of dating Jose planned the ultimate proposal to wu Krysta’s heart. He had a whole weekend planned with activities. On March 27th, Jose had them attend a night photography workshop with Tempe Camera at Mount Lemon. The following day, March 28th the two attended a Spring Training baseball game with the Colorado Rockies and Diamond Backs. Following the game the two enjoyed watching the sunset from a view on Mount Lemon.

After a packed filled weekend, the two heading home to Phoenix. Jose was dropping Krysta off at her home. They were sitting in her living room when Jose started to list off all the many sweet reason why he liked Krysta. As Jose was proclaiming his love he slowly slipped a ring box out for her to see. It was in that moment Krysta thought, “it’s empty”….but it wasn’t. Jose opened the box to reveal his token of wanting to be married to Krysta forever…an engagement ring. At the sight of the ring, Krysta screamed and hugged Jose. It was then that Krysta’s sister woke up and came out asking, “What’s going on?” “We’re engaged!” Then Krysta’s sister screamed. Their house that evening was full of joy on their new union that was about to be formed.

Jose and Krysta, thank you two for being amazing people. I’m thrilled to have been a part of your wedding day and to know you two on a deeper level. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for you two as a husband and wife! Grace and Peace,
April
