Get 7 Cheap and Easy DIY Christmas Decorations

christmasThere are many reasons why I want to make cheap and easy decorations this 2012 Christmas. I am living in a foreign country, and don’t want to accumulate too many things. However, I still want to decorate for Christmas. We’re in a rental, and the walls are cement so we can’t nail things into the wall. My husband and I want some Christmas cheer but would rather save money to go travel this spring. The issues listed above sound like a dilemma, but with a little time traded in for some craftiness our home has begun to radiant Christmas spirit.

Whether you're a traveler or on a budget below are:

7 Simple Crafts to Decorate your Home for Christmas

1. Snowflakes: Put them on your windows. (Here are some ideas on how to make them. For other designs click here.)

3. Turtle doves: Draw and then cut/ hole punch in between their wings. Tape the wings on. Draw an eye. IMG_4

5. Paper Garland: Do you remember these paper made garlands growing up? Put a tree in your living room. Learn how we got this dead tree here. Lightly dress the garland on the branches.IMG_5

6. Cupcake tree: Put a tree up. Buy a package of cupcake holders and cut out a star to top it off. (I got this idea here.)

7. Have really awesome thoughtful friends send you a care package with an already assembled tree. The tree, star, lightbulbs and balls are made of felt. We taped it to the wall. Our friends glued the felt lightbulbs to a red ribbon. If you have friends overseas they would really appreciate this gift. We sure did. =)

Above I listed some Christmas decorations to give off the Christmas atmosphere, but honestly Christmas isn’t about Santa, trees, presents, turtle doves, or reindeers. It’s about God giving us the best gift of all, Jesus our savior. Thank you God for the best Christmas cheer of all, being saved (not just on Christmas day, but everyday of the year).
